Description
Cider Cottage sleeps five in a lovely countryside location, with all home comforts. A property full of character, with exposed feature stone walling and ceiling beams. In the past the building was used to store and crush the apples to produce local Cornish cider. Recently fully renovated and upgraded Cider cottage was awarded 4 Stars by Visit England.
Cider Cottage has 3 Bedrooms -1 with King Size Bed with an en suite bathroom (WC, bath with shower mixer & basin) on the lower ground floor, while upstairs are a twin and a single bedroom, both adjoining a shower room on the landing (WC, shower & basin). The kitchen/dining room features a new electric oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge, freezer, microwave etc.. Central heating and hot water are provided at no extra cost. We also provide those annoying extras which you do not want to include in the packing e.g. soap, toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, tea towels, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and washing powder and of course a pint of milk to allow weary travellers to make a cup of tea on arrival. A high chair and stair gate is supplied a travel cot is available on request.
Down a flight of steps is the large Lounge, with a door to the patio and the enclosed rear garden laid to lawn. The lounge is equipped with a large screen digital TV, a DVD player, as well as a good selection of books, games, DVDs, maps and guides.
The property is approached up a private drive to the owners’ house, Woodhill Manor and has off-road parking and an acre of private woodland to explore. Local wildlife includes buzzards, owls, and pheasants.
Cider Cottage is only 1 mile from the historic town of Liskeard with a choice of restaurants, takeaways, pubs and supermarkets, a leisure centre with an indoor swimming pool and a main line railway station. Liskeard is an ideal hub from which to explore the Cornish countryside and coast. The seaside resort of Looe with its lovely sandy beach is just a 25 minute drive away or a very scenic train ride from Liskeard. Other sandy beaches nearby include Talland Bay, Seaton and Whitsand Bay all located on the south coast. A host of other attractions are within easy reach, including the Eden Project the delightful fishing village of Polperro, Fowey and its lovely river. The famous Lost Gardens of Heligan can be reached in just 45 mins.
Bodmin Moor with its mysterious legends, standing stones, granite tors and tin mining heritage is just 10 mins away from Cider Cottage. Further afield is the North Cornwall coast with fashionable Wadebridge, Rock and Padstow, whilst bustling Newquay or the Cathedral city of Truro can make a lovely day visit. The city of Plymouth is just 35 mins away with a host of family attractions, historic sites and maritime interests. There is even an ice skating rink, ski slope and toboggan run, so something for everyone.

The ancient market town of Liskeard lies about 14 miles west of the River Tamar, at the head of the Looe Valley. It is an ideal location for exploring the region: to the south, the lovely coves and resorts of the Cornish coasts are waiting to be discovered, and to the north, the vast windswept expanse of Bodmin Moor, with its granite tors and rugged moorland villages. It is located within a few miles of St Keyne, St Cleer, Dobwalls, Menheniot, Duloe, and St Pinnock.
The tin mining industry played an important part in the growth of the town, and in 1828 a canal link enabled ore and stone to be carried down to Looe. This was later replaced by the Looe Valley Line which is now a single track branch line along scenic wooded riverbanks.
This picturesque town boasts many original shop fronts and interiors, and there are many interesting buildings, including a Victorian Guild Hall and Clock Tower, a Town Hall, the Stuart House where Charles I stayed in 1644, and St. Martin’s Church, the second largest church in Cornwall. The town is one of the few in Cornwall still to hold a weekly livestock market, and it also now hosts an excellent sports and leisure centre, Lux Park. Three leisure trails, each with its own blue commemorative plaque, are based in and around Liskeard, and for those seeking refreshment there is a range of restaurants, cafes and pubs.
